while admiring these pictures I thought back to how in high school i studied latin and learned tbe saying which translates to “art for the sake of art” – this was long ago, before the cia murdered jfk – i acknowledge my fate as an early baby boomer – someone has called me ‘a time traveler from the first half of the twentieth century’ – john greenleaf whittier wrote – in a poem twice set to music for use as a hymn, which my late father asked be sung at his funeral – “I know not what the future hath of marvel or surprise” – I try to live with awareness and with love, taking an attitude of gratitude when i remember to do so and feel capable of it – and making occasional gestures in the direction of the quest for truth, justice, the good of all, and a tolerable tomorrow – may peace be with those who read these words, and with all our relations
